What We Do:

Opiates and methamphetamines continue to take a significant toll on our community’s resources, harming our loved ones and affecting the well-being of our children. Prevention and education are two of the most effective ways to address these addictions. In 2018, our coalition was awarded a federal grant dedicated to youth prevention and community outreach. One of our main goals is to guide young people away from experimenting with alcohol and illegal substances.

The CDC has reported that individuals with alcohol addiction are three times more likely to develop a heroin addiction, and those who use prescription opioid painkillers are 40 times more likely to become addicted to heroin. This data underscores the importance of stopping substance experimentation early to prevent addiction.

To support this mission, we have established UNITE Clubs in all five local public schools. The young members of these clubs have made a public commitment to remain alcohol- and drug-free while learning how to positively impact their community. Since 2016, they have donated 3,150 pounds of food to the local food pantry and provided support to veterans, younger students, and the elderly, among others.

Another vital focus of our coalition is educating the community about addiction and its widespread impact. Addiction does not discriminate—it affects everyone, which is why we all must come together to create change and save lives. Through our efforts, we are truly "UNITING WOLFE COUNTIANS TOWARDS A SAFER AND BRIGHTER FUTURE."

Our office provides a judgment-free environment where individuals can seek help for themselves or their loved ones. We continually implement new programs and resources to ensure our community receives the essential support needed to overcome addiction.

Our Achievements

  • Assisted over 150 individuals in accessing rehab through the UNITE voucher program, covering costs for both participants and their families.

  • Actively raise awareness about pressing issues in our community and encourage local residents to join our efforts.

  • Introduced multiple programs to support youth in making healthy, drug- and alcohol-free choices, including establishing UNITE clubs in every school district and rewarding students who make positive decisions.

  • Set up secure disposal sites for unused prescription medications, located at the Wolfe County Sheriff’s Office and United Clinics of Kentucky. These sites ensure proper disposal and create opportunities for parents to discuss the risks associated with prescription drugs.
